WHAT IS SMART REDIRECTS?

Smart Redirects is a new feature inside Ambassador that lets a single share link serve multiple, personalized landing pages — based on the device, language, and country of whoever clicks it.

No duplicate links. No manual segmentation. No "good enough" experience for half your audience.

You create one URL. Ambassador looks at who's clicking and routes them to the right experience automatically.

---

HOW IT WORKS

Every time someone clicks an Ambassador share link, we enrich the IP. Right now that enrichment includes device type, location, and language. Based on those signals, Ambassador routes the click to whatever landing page you've mapped to that segment.

Here's what you can route on today:

Device — iOS and Android users get sent to their respective app store or mobile experience. This is also how deep linking works: if someone clicks on their phone and they already have your app, they get taken directly into the app — to the exact page you want.

Language — French speakers see French content. Spanish speakers see Spanish content. You define the mapping.

Country — Someone in Germany sees the campaign built for Germany. Someone in the UK sees theirs.

Each of those landing pages can be attached to entirely different campaigns, which means different vaults, different ledgers, different payout structures, different email automations, different incentives.

One link. Multiple complete funnels.

WHY WE BUILT THIS

A few clients came to us with the same core problem: they were running programs across multiple audiences — different languages, different geographies, different devices — and they were being forced to build and manage a different share link for each one.

That's not scalable. It's also bad for the ambassador experience. When someone shares a link with their friends and half those friends land on the wrong page, the wrong language, or a desktop site on a mobile phone — that's friction. That's attribution headaches. That's lost conversions.

Smart Redirects removes all of that.

But more than solving a pain point, this is the foundation of something bigger.

THIS IS THE START OF LINK FUNNELING

Think about what Bitly is: a URL redirect ecosystem. It takes one link and routes it based on configuration. That's a core infrastructure capability — and it's exactly what the Ambassador platform is built on.

Every survey, NPS trigger, loyalty campaign, referral program, affiliate link — it's all link tracking. It's all URL tracking. So building smart redirect infrastructure isn't a feature bolt-on. It's us investing in the backbone.

What we have today: device, language, and country routing.

What's coming: state-level and zip code-level targeting (so a franchise like Dogtopia can route each click to the nearest location), plus full integration with multicurrency so one link can serve the right campaign, in the right currency, to anyone in the world.

When multicurrency drops and we pair it with Smart Redirects, we'll have one URL that can handle country-specific incentives, payout structures, and compliance requirements simultaneously.

That's not a feature. That's infrastructure.

DEEP LINKING: THE PART THAT CHANGES THE APP GAME

Before Smart Redirects, if a client wanted to drive app downloads through Ambassador, here's how it worked: the share link went to a landing page, the landing page had a download button, the user clicked the download button, went to the app store, downloaded the app, then had to manually enter a promo code inside the app to get their reward attributed.

That's five steps. That's friction at every single one.

Now: the share link goes directly to the app store. If the user already has the app, it opens the app to the exact page you configured — the way Amazon links open directly into the Amazon app with the right product loaded. No promo codes. No extra clicks. No extra pages.

We still need our SDK integration to track what users do inside the app after that — that's on the roadmap. But the click-to-app experience is now clean, fast, and direct.

REAL-WORLD USE CASES

For franchises: One ambassador share link, routing to location-specific landing pages by state or zip code (state routing is live; zip code targeting is coming very soon).

For international programs: One URL serving country-specific campaigns with different rules, incentives, and GDPR compliance requirements per market.

For mobile-first brands: Deep linking support so share links go directly into your app without the website detour.

For multilingual audiences: Language-based routing so every person sees content that was built for them.

HOW TO SET IT UP

Smart Redirects lives inside your Landing Pages. When you create or edit a landing page, you'll see the Smart Redirects module. Your fallback URL is where everyone goes by default. Then you add rules — if Android, send here. If iOS, send here. If France, send here. If Spanish language, send here.

Watch the tutorial video at the top of this post. Matheus walks through the full setup. It takes less time than reading this post.

WHAT'S NEXT

We're building toward full link funneling infrastructure inside Ambassador. The roadmap includes state and zip code-level routing, deeper IP enrichment for B2B signals (think: company size, industry, firmographic data), and eventually the ability to route based on behavioral or CRM-based segments.

This is the beginning of something that will fundamentally change how ambassador programs reach and convert at scale.

If you want to talk through how Smart Redirects applies to your specific program, reach out. We're actively working with clients to configure this for their highest-priority use cases.
